In the novel Foreign Gods, Inc by Okey Ndibe, the role women have depicted in chapters 16, 17, 18 and 19 is to take care of the children, feed the family and clean and do what their husband want. In chapters 16, 17, 18, and 19 depicts the horrifying transformation Regina has endured. For example, regina; Ike's ex girlfriend was once a beautiful young women. Regina's life and appearence has durastically change sice she had married Egoigwe a drug pusher. Furthermore, she has endured beatings and starvation from her husband and when he died her and her five children were left homeless. Egoigwe's family accused her of witchcraft and being responsible for Egoigwe's death and drove her and her children away, inheriting Egoigwe's remainings. In addition Tony Iba is also introduced in these selected chapters. Iba a man from humble a humble beginining and now is a wealthy man with a family. Iba aqquired his wealth by being a politician, thats how he lives his lavish life. Ike and Iba coversated, caught up and got aqquainted with each other when they meet at Iba's mansion. Although women/wives depicted in these chapters endured abuse Iba sent his wife and children to London to live a finer life while he works in Nigeria where it is hot and corrupt to support them. In Nigeria as depicted in the novel are treated as secondary citizens, less if possible. Men are dominant and control over what their wives/women do or will endure beatings and abuse.

1 .Is Tony Iba different from other husband/men in Nigeria for not abusing or mistreating his wife?
2. Does Ike have any feelings left for Regina?
3. Will Regina fight and sue for her husband death in London?

In chapters 16, 17, 18 and 19 of Foreign Gods Inc. the role of women was depicted as if women were only good for certain occasions, and had no power in society. In the beginning of chapter sixteen the author states that Ike’s mother was outside working. The details depict that Ike’s mother is working hard in the sun and tired. For instance, the author states “Ike’s mother sat outside the house, a corn-filled basket between her legs. She stopped husking as he entered. “What took you so long?” she asked. Her eyes animated her sweaty face.” Ike’s ex-girlfriend was depicted as useless and less than what she really was by her husband. In the text Regina’s husband did not treat her as if she was his wife. For example, “The first time I suggested it, he beat me black and blue. He threatened to divorce me.” This text reveals the feeling that women in Nigeria depended on their husbands. In the text, Regina says “ You speak as if you’re not from these parts, as if you don’t know how difficult it is for a woman to get up and leave her husband.” This states the weakness that Regina have in herself.

[draft] In foreign gods, Inc , Chapters 16, 17, 18 and 19 the Nigerian society views women as people who just want money from him. One example, "It was not as if he didn't expect that a stream of relatives would come to "greet" him-greeting being, in this case, an excuse to lay their woes at his feet and then request some money. It was a game marked by conceits, highly intersecting... etc" Basically, another trap. The Nigerian people view the Western world as a place where your paid good, or as a place where everyone is better. An example includes when Ike was asking what they'll do with their millions, "And I'll eat fried eggs each morning." and "Everyone in America likes pizza. On TV, everyone eats it. They eat it and smile." Basically, they see america as in the superior place, everyone gets fed every-night, good money, easy, stereotypical stuff.

In the novel Foreign Gods, Inc. by Okey Nbide, chapters 16,17,18, and 19 shows the very male dominated culture in Ike's Nigerian Village. Driven to doing the necessary, Ike nevertheless nearly forgets why he came to Utonki once he stumbled into people he knew before he left for America. He found his once-nubile ex-girlfriend, now just a shadow of the woman she one was. He also ran into a school friend who has become a multimillionaire. The chuavanisn in Ike's village is very evident in his mother and sister. His mother and sister are controlled by the Christian pastor. If the pastor tells her to jump, she says how high. This is a large part of their culture where men control everything. The pastor has such a strong hold on her where she would even turn her back on her family for her "faith." This to me is very ironic because in their society they are a now molded by the western world, and now the western world is done what driven by women.

Questions:
1. How did Ike's mother meet the pastor.
2. If Ike's sister got the chance, would she leave her mother.
3. How did Ike's ex-girlfreind loose her status.

Chapters 16, 17, and 18 shows how woman in Nigeria were shown less respect than the men in their civilitation. Women whom were married were forced to live for their husband to be considered a "good wife". Ike's ex girlfriend, Regina onced lived a non-abusive life. She lived that life before marrying a man named Egoigwe. Egoigwe beat Regina until she was black and blue, stated Regina. She was abused mentally and also physically. Women's rights has always been put away because of the unrealistic way of thinking. It was said that women are weak and dumb. Women should have equal rights to men because they are people first. Women could be as strong and intelligent as men, sometimes better. Without women, the world would not continue to circulate. Ike met a man that once lived a life of a regular man and then became a man of money, whose name is Tony Iba. He received great wealth and a healthy family. The pastor of Christianity has both Ike's mom and sister under control once he was able to brain wash them. This proved that the Nigerians doesn't reject the western world. They actually accept and agree with the western world and they are controlled, along with the rest of the world who refuses to see that we've adjusted to this way of life.

In chapters 16, 17, 18, and 19 of Foreign Gods, Inc. the roles of these women would be considered house-wives. In the Nigerian society women were known for staying home and taking care of their spouse and children by cooking and cleaning for their family. In these chapters all the women have things in common. For example either their husband passed or their in need of money and would starve without it. In the story Ike’s ex-girlfriend Regina expresses her life with her husband before he passed. She tells him about how her husband Egoigwe beat her black and blue all because he didn’t like the fact that she was telling him what to do or what not to do. Once his mother and his ex-girlfriend’s husbands died neither one of them could do much for themselves. Each needed something they couldn’t afford. Nkiru and Regina both have one thing in common also. Each of their husbands were drug addicts. Either selling or using them neither one of the fathers were good influences to their children.

In the nevel Foreign Gods, Inc by Okey Ndibe, The role women have depict in chapters 16,17,18,and 19 is to follow under the males commands. the author illutrates thaat women are only good for one thing. For example, "Do you know he is the grandson pf a terrible robber? She sprang to her feet, clenched arms placed on her hip, a fighter's posture." as you read the rest of the passage the author illustrates that Ike's mother is in denial she is only to believe and listen to everything the pastor say's. this depicts the the issue thar women are only to listen under the males commands. Regina has come face to face with a major change in her life due to her marriage. For example, Ike's ex girlfriend use to be a beautiful young lady but due to her marrying Egoigwe a drug dealer that soon changes because of his massive beatings he'd give to her time and time again. For example,"On learning that Egoigwe's fortune came from a career as a ruthless drug pusher, Ike and his friends had decided to give him--and Regina--a wide berth." In this passage this shows that Regina's husband is no good in result of being a drug pusher he massivly lays his hand on her to take out stress or because she didnt follow his cammands and requests. futhermore, this excerpt shows that the Nigerian society see's women as slaves to the male race.

Questions;
1.will Ike's mother finally stand up and not be put under the catagory of a males slave?
2.will Regina finallt sue for the horrible death of her husban?
3.will ike's sister get tired of the expectations of a women and leave the village?

In chapters 16- 19 of the book Foreign Gods Inc. by Okey Ndibe it mainly talks about the Nigerian views on women in the country. During Ike’s visit in his village he speaks a lot with his mother. Also he runs into his ex-girlfriend Regina. Regina broke up with Ike when they were kids and got married to a drug-dealing criminal. Ike was heartbroken when this happened because he really had strong feelings for Regina. Yeats later Regina and her new boyfriend get married and have 5 kids. But sadly, just a week after the last child was born he died. In Nigeria as a widow it very hard trying to make ends meet. In Ike’s village they believe that if a females husband dies before her she has done witchcraft to his death. If this happens then the husband’s family will neglect the wife and leave her on her own regardless if she did or not. Also the wife cannot divorce the husband unless the husband wants to have a divorce. In this culture women are treated unfairly and the husband always has an advantage. In addition, in Nigerian culture women are very religious and have 100% absolute faith in their leader. For example, Ike’s mom says prayers everyday for her son. Also Ike found out some horrible things about his mother’s Pastor Uke but regardless if it's true or not Ike’s mom doesn't believe and never will. Also, Ike’s uncle has many wives, which he doesn’t really care about and exploits them. All in all women have a rough time in Nigerian culture so they use religion and faith in God to keep going.

In Foreign Gods, Inc. the role of the women is illustrated as if they have the responsibility of an adult, but would be punished as a child. In the novel it is depicted that men have overall power over the women. While staying in Nigeria, Ike encounters an ex-girlfriend of his and notices she is not how she was once before. Regina tells Ike about her late husband Egoigwe who was a drug pusher. While being married to him she experienced beating and bruises for asking Egoigwe to stop dealing drugs and start a clean business. Egoigwe ended up dying at the fault of his drug dealing leaving Regina alone to take care of their five children with no money. After the death of her husband, her in laws place the blame of Egoigwe on the witchcraft of Regina, and find ways to kill her to prove if she is a witch like poisoning her drink. After declining to take the test her in laws proceed to mercifully beat her until she is forced to leave her own house forcing them into homelessness. For example, the text states, “what till I tell your father about it. He should know where to look when his money begins to disappear. Women and children are not to eat eggs. It teaches them to steal.” This quote shows that these men think that women do not have to ability to think for themselves and think right from wrong.
1. Will Regina sue for what happened to her husband?
2. Will Ike continue on his path Ngene?
3. How did all these people know about Ike’s arrival?
